Hi All

 I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to share some information about our Valentines Day Card Exchange. The children will be decorating Valentine bags on Friday, February 8th from 2 to 2:45. You are more than welcome to come on in and join the fun! I have purchased some plain white bags for the holders. Please feel free to send in any valentine stickers, doilies, sparkle glue, etc to add to my supply box of materials. I hope you will be able to join us.

The children will exchange cards on Thursday, February 14th. It is a wonderful time to gather as a community, practice our reading skills and have fun! Please help your child write a valentine for every student in the class. If you Valentines are complete before the 14th, please send them in. It helps if we distribute them ahead of time. Also, please have your child make a valentine for their 5th grade buddy.

Our Current Shared Chapter Book

We continue to enjoy listening to a chapter book at the end of our day! We thoroughly enjoyed the Mercy Watson series and now are meeting Beezus and Ramona!

Newbery Award-winner Beverly Cleary delivers a humorous portayal of the ups and downs of sisterhood. Both the younger and older siblings of the family will enjoy this book.

Having a little sister like four-year-old Ramona isn’t always easy for Beezus Quimby. With a wild imagination, disregard for order, and an appetite for chaos, Ramona makes it hard for Beezus to be the responsible older sister she knows she ought to be…especially when Ramona threatens to ruin Beezus’s birthday party. Will Beezus find the patience to handle her little sister before Ramona turns her big day into a complete disaster?

Our Holiday Slideshow

Thank your for sending all of the photos for our holiday slideshow. It has been a wonderful way to ease back into the new year! The children enjoys sharing about their personal experiences. It is a great way to practice our public speaking and listening skills.

Writing For A Purpose

The children continue to create a variety of personal projects! It is a wonderful way to  practice their writing, illustrating and reading skills.

May Do Choices

The children are enjoying a variety of stations that foster independence, problem solving skills, communication and partner work. During our literacy block, the children have a daily list of must dos to complete. After their work is complete, they have the opportunity to choose from a variety of activities including reading, book making, literacy games and math materials. During this time, I am able to work with small groups.
