Problem Solving As A Community

At our morning meeting,we share news and sometimes we share problems that I have noticed or someone else has noticed. We spend time as a community thinking of possible solutions and plans to hep us all feel heard, safe and welcomed:  Here was our problem: The marble raceway is a very popular classroom item and  some people were never having a turn. We came up with the idea of having a weekly drawing to take it home on the weekend. Now, the children are independently running a turn schedule for this toy. The list is posted in the classroom and the children refer to it to determine whose turn is next.

Literacy Centers

This week, the children began working with some new literacy centers that provide practice with trick words, spelling and reading. The children are doing a great job working independently and helping each other with questions.

Buddy Time- Games and Drawing

5th grade buddies

We were so excited to meet our 5th grade buddies. We are paired with Ms. Valentine's 5th grade class. We will meet with our buddies throughout the year to share projects, work on community service initiatives, play games and read books. It is a wonderful way for the children to create relationships with students in other grades. It was a delightful way to spend the afternoon!
